How to Get the Best Out of Your Bison

Our USDA-inspected bison is available in similar cuts as beef.  However, bison tends to cook much faster.  For best results, follow these basic bison tips:

THAW SLOWLY

Proper thawing ensures juicy steaks.  Thaw wrapped meat completely in your refrigerator on a plate for approximately 2 days.  For faster thawing, put wrapped meat in your sink and run cold water over it for 10-15 minutes or until thawed.  Warm or hot water cooks the meat.

LESS COOKING TIME

Bison takes about 1/3 less time to cook than beef.  Less cooking time keeps steaks and burgers moist.  Follow cooking times in our quick and easy cooking instructions for best results.

DO NOT OVERCOOK

Remember, this is bison, not beef.  Bison cooks faster.  For best results, follow cooking instruction times in the quick and easy cooking instructions that come in your order.  Never cook bison until it is well done…instead cook until the meat is medium or medium rare.  This will give you the best bison experience!

STORE & USE WITHIN 6 MONTHS

To preserve quality and freshness, keep frozen in original vacuum wrap and shipping boxes.  For best flavor and texture, use products within 6 months of delivery.
